Hi Ladies! Just a reminder that this Tuesday, November 11th is the last Tiara Tuesday of 2008. We hope to see you at Mane Attraction for some food, drinks and music by Slim Jim and the Sloppy Joes! We also hope you and your friends will sign up for some of the remaining build days to finish up this house for Tina and Rowan Daniels!
See you at Mane Attraction!
So - Fall is here and it’s getting a little colder outside, but we still need your help to finish the new home for Tina and Rowan Daniels! If you haven’t volunteered yet you can go to the online calendar to sign up for a weekday or a Saturday now through the end of December.
Did I mention that you also get one of these fabulous t-shirts when you build?

And don’t forget that we love to hear your stories from the construction site – so check back here afterwards and let us all know how it went!
A special thanks to Sheila Pack for passing along some of her photos from the Women Build construction site! Hope all of you are having fun out there – and again, we’d love to hear your stories. Keep up the great work!
Hi Ladies! The lastest Tiara Tuesday photos from Lori Spiker Photography are now available here! Thanks to Lori for once again contributing her amazing photography talents to the Women Build. A special thanks to Ferguson Enterprises and Rugs Direct for putting on another fun-filled event for us!
See you at the October Tiara Tuesday for an 80’s party at Rugs Direct ! This one will be held on the 2nd Tuesday of the month, October 14th! In the meantime – happy building for all of you who are signed up for build days!
For those of you who have already built – let us know how it went by posting a comment! We would love to hear your stories!
The building process for Frederick County’s first Habitat for Humanity Women Build is officially under way! We all have our own reasons for wanting to get involved; some may want to learn construction skills, others are inspired by the ability to work with other women in our community to build a home for a local mom and her daughter. Whatever your reason is it’s great to see all of you getting involved and we would love to hear your feedback from your experiences on the build site. Comment to this post and let us all know why you got invloved in Women Build and if you have already participated in a build day, let us know how that went too!
Amy Gray was a volunteer on the very first build day and was kind enough to send us a quick note and a photo from her day! Thanks Amy!
“Worked 6-1/2 hours on the Habitat house today – first day for volunteers. I built the first (2′) interior wall. Then we built another 5′ wall and then got all the sill plates on the foundation. I drilled holes and measured, didn’t do much hammering, that is SO HARD. I’m POOPED!!!” – Amy Gray
Our chance to participate in the construction of Tina and Rowan Daniels’ new home officially starts this Saturday, September 6th.
Yes – we’ve all had a great time coming together to raise money and awareness about Frederick County’s first ever Habitat for Humanity Women Build at the monthly Tiara Tuesday events. Tiara Tuesdays will continue to take place each month and we look forward to seeing you all there. However, the moment we’ve all been working towards is finally here! So get signed up on Habitat for Humanity’s online calendar, and get out there and swing a hammer!
Below I have provided the answers to some frequently asked questions about the build and volunteering. If I missed anything please feel free to comment to this post and I’d be happy to answer any additional questions you have.
Q: How many hours are required to participate in the build?
A: Each workday is 7 hours (9 am – 4 pm). Volunteers can sign up for one day or many if you wish, but you must work the full shift on the days that you sign up to build. Free lunch and cold water is provided to volunteers!
Q: What if I don’t have any building/construction skills?
A: Don’t worry if you don’t have any experience or skills in home building. Women of all skill levels are encouraged to volunteer. That being said, even if you’ve never picked up a hammer in your life we would be happy to have you! If there are specific skills you would like to learn Lowes Training is available (see below), but not mandatory.
Q: How do I sign up to build?
A: The online calendar is located at www.habitatwfc.org
1. Click on “Volunteer Now”
2. Scroll to the day you would like to volunteer
3. Scroll to Women Build (In pink you will see BUILD DAY)
4. Click “Sign Up” and follow directions
Q: How do I sign up for Lowes Training?
A: Follow the same directions as above (signing up to build), but click on “Sign Up” next to Lowes Training for Women Build instead of Build Day.
Q: What should I wear?
A: Closed toe shoes are required at the build site. Other than that, just dress comfortably for the weather. Volunteers will each receive a free Women Build t-shirt at check-in.
Q: Should I bring my own tools?
A: Tools will be provided, but if you feel more comfortable using your own tools feel free to bring them!
Thanks again to all of you for your enthusiasm and support! See you at the Women Build!
Thanks to Goodfella’s Restaurant & Bar for hosting and to Rug’s Direct for sponsoring the August Tiara Tuesday! Once again it sounds like everyone had a great time! A perfect end to a successful summer of Tiara Tuesdays for Frederick County’s first Women Build!
Remember that even though building starts in September, Tiara Tuesdays will continue through December! Hope to see all of you September 16th at Ferguson Enterprises where we’ll be having a “Party in the Kitchen”. Don’t forget to bring your favorite recipe on an index card!
Thanks to LePapillon Day Resort & Spa for hosting and sponsoring last week’s Tiara Tuesday! Although I was unable to attend it sounds like all of you had a great time and enjoyed some amazing food! Thanks to all of you for your continued support – these events would not be the fun and successful nights they always are without all of you!
Hope to see all of you August 19 at Goodfella’s Restaurant & Bar! Until then, make sure to check out Lori Spiker’s latest Tiara Tuesday Photos!
So, how many of you are planning to attend the next Tiara Tuesday on July 15th? This month’s host is LePapillon Day Resort & Spa and for anyone who hasn’t had the pleasure of visiting yet, you definitely don’t want to miss this event. We’re coming together in celebration of women’s independence so wear your favorite pink, white and silver (and of course your hard hats and tiaras) and stop by for some fun and relaxation with all of your girlfriends! Robbie Limon will be performing and the chefs at LePapillon will be preparing some delicious food and drinks for us!
See you at the spa!
Hi Ladies! Check out Lori Spiker’s photos from last week’s Tiara Tuesday at Piccadilly Brew Pub! Once again, she did a great job of capturing the energy and excitement at the event!
